What does an HVAC maintenance plan cover?

A maintenance plan covers the scheduled work a system needs to keep running, rather than the repairs it needs once something breaks. The Albers Air annual membership includes two premium tune ups a year, same day priority service, no after hours fees, filter replacements, an indoor air quality check, an annual ductwork inspection, a blower and coil deep cleaning, and ten percent off repairs.

What it actually depends on

How many visits a year. Two tune ups means one before the cooling season and one before the heating season, which is the pattern that suits a house running air conditioning most of the year and heat for a short stretch of it.

Whether priority scheduling matters to you. The membership includes same day priority service and no after hours fees. On the first genuinely hot day of summer, when the phones are busiest, that is the part members notice.

What the tune up actually touches. A real tune up is filter replacement, coil cleaning, a system inspection and performance testing, not a look and a sticker.

What a tune up is looking for before it becomes a repair

Most breakdowns announce themselves first. Airflow gets weak. Coils start to frost. There is water near the indoor unit, or a noise that was not there last year. Each of those is cheap attention now and an expensive failure later, usually on the hottest day, which is when people discover their system did not survive the winter.

Our technicians are background checked and trained continuously, and the same technician work that finds a fault during a tune up is what finds it during a repair call. The difference is that during a tune up, nobody is sitting in a hot house waiting.

Common questions

What is included in each maintenance plan?

Each plan includes a set number of system tune ups, priority scheduling, repair discounts and additional benefits. The membership page lists what each one covers and what it costs.

Does the plan cover repairs themselves?

Repairs are separate work, and membership takes ten percent off them. The plan covers the scheduled maintenance, the inspections and the filter replacements.

Is the plan worth it on a newer system?

A newer system is exactly where maintenance pays, because the tune ups keep it in the condition it was installed in rather than restoring it later.
